Poem: "Procrastination Pestilence"

English: City wall in Worms, Germany Mike Chapman
English: City wall in Worms, Germany. Mike Chapman.(Photo credit: Wikipedia)
A stone wall blocks and pushes,
Redirects traffic
It won't allow entry
No one can penetrate it

Time eats it away
And it eats time

Distractions seem more important
The screen is blank

Avoiding makes it more imminent
Like a shark
Yet no activation
Not like a bark

Smash the wall!
Down with it!
We want to get it over with
We pick excuse, but we need the cool, refreshing
Wave of
Relief

The early bird gets the worm,
While the night owl gets red eyes
"Ha ha!" versus cries
Get the early worm and no sighs

There once was a great magician.
Before a performance, he started wishin'.
'Cause if he were to fail,
He would turn pale,
And would have to go back to fishin'.

Poem: "Tortoise's Race"

Rush, work, sprinkle
As they mingle
Spread out, sprawl
Bawl and brawl.

Behind for a feast
Eating the dust
And echoing laughter.

Poem: "Eraser"

Eraser Buddy
Eraser Buddy (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
Every scratch leaves a mark
It can be erased
But erasing is an illusion
For things exist and are replaced
Yet are never the same

The man with the big appetite
And ego
Watches with open eyes
As the clock ticks in the cave
And the pile is eaten

He can hide things
In the crevices,
Nooks,
Crannies
He is a thief
Or Collector
A hobbyist
Passionate

They eat and go
In the same place
They breathe and they sleep
In the same place

Inspiration is a fuel
So is desire and fear and food
Life is for living
"Dead men tell no tales"
Therefore the living do

Erase and erase,
But a trace will remain
No matter how small,
How minuscule
A dot

Nobody will see the trace now
And then
But someone did.

There once was an animal: cow
Who to everyone he would bow.
He was so formal,
It wasn't normal,
And afterwards he would say,
"Ciao."

There once was a shark named Mark
Who wished that he could bark.
Riding a scooter,
He searched for a tutor,
But he still couldn't bark by dark.

Poem: "Second to Sleep"

I am the second to retire,
As I follow the leader's small fire

But should he wake up,
Abrupt,

And all are alert, creeping,
Then I am the only one sleeping

Poem: "A Controversial Question"

A controversial question

It is human
So are they
If this is true
Who are you?

It stands out for
Fear
Of classification

There once was a man named Chester,
Whose cat he named Sylvester.
When the cat chased a mouse,
And blew up the house,
Chester sequestered Sylvester.

Poem: "Seedling is Ticklish"

Grow, seedling,
Grow

Reach up high into the sky
Don't be shy
Don't cry

Don't give up
Don't complain
Don't doubt

Don't be afraid
To raise
Laugh off the
Tickle
For it is
Not
Real

Poem: "The Dirt Frog"

An ancient pond. A frog jumps in. Plop! (86/365)

The Dirt Frog is always there
Restless, itching
Waiting for a blunder

So when a mistake is made,
Like the shine of a blade,
The Dirt Frog explodes

The Dirt Frog croaks
And is croaked

The Dirt Frog is
Everywhere
Omniscient,
Ubiquitous,
Prying
Trying
Crying

The Dirt Frog is
Unsuccessful
Alone

Yet
The Dirt Frog is now...
Flying

Poem: "The Field"

As I hurry through this field late March,
To a meeting I go
I think for a moment,
And reflect, "Oh."

For it seems as though
It was a hundred years ago
When this field was blazed
And this  town was razed

In reality, however,
It was only a mere year
When this field was attacked
And into corners
Everyone was packed

They played games here
And chased their dogs here
And told stories here
And laughed
And still do

Therefore, it does not seem real
Out of the blue
A dream, a mirage
A lie
A moment
Trapped in history

Yet it happened here
This very field
This previous year
As I walk to
My meeting

Poem: "Wake Up, Cap'n"

Avast!
Ahoy, Cap'n
Ye be sleepin' late

Wake up!
Yar be missing
The big
Battle

Wake up!
All hands on deck
An enemy's been spotted
Why, it's our old rival!

Wake up, Cap'n!
The cannons be blowing
The yelling be growing
The waves be glowing

Wake up, Cap'n!
We've been hit!
She's been sunken
We're going down!

They'll plunder our loot
We'll pout and they'll root
Where's Cap'n?

Wake up, Cap'n
Wake up.
