GE Wind Energy Commercial

Here's a unique commercial by the company GE promoting wind energy. Did I ever mention my obsession over wind turbines?

Poem: An Arrow Into the Sky

The Arrow in the Sky

I shot an arrow into the sky,
Not knowing where it went
Someone may have picked it up,
played with it;
it's now broken and bent

I shot an arrow into the sky,
Not knowing where it went
It may have hit a plane,
And left a funny dent

I shot an arrow into the sky,
Not knowing where it went
I found it in an unfortunate fox,
This was where the arrow was sent

Happy 1111111111 day! This is the second to last year you will ever have years, months, days, and hours the same number. After 2012's 12121212, there won't be another funny date like this in the next 88 years!

Don't forget... reduce, reuse, recycle! And keep on smelling!

Daylight Savings- Fall Back and Sleep in

As you all know, today is daylight savings. Because summers have longer days, and winters have longer nights, (because of the earth's axis) we jump the time one hour in spring (spring forward), and bring it back one hour in the fall (fall back). Benjamin Franklin started this so that people would work longer in all the seasons. This is because psychologically, people work better in daylight; so Benjamin moved these hours around to maximize the amount of daylight in work.

Anyways, have fun sleeping in... and keep on smelling!

[Daylight savings time does not take place in Hawaii (too close to the equator and gets enough sunlight) and Alaska (far from the equator and gets little difference in sunlight from DLST)]

Post Halloween Pumpkin "Recycling"

It's been half a week since Halloween... What are you going to do with that pumpkin? Especially if you carved one out, they're not going to last more than another week.

Here's an article by ehow.com on five ways to put your old, saggy pumpkin from Halloween to good use.

Halloween Bartering

“Trick-or-treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat!”
Children alike, ages from two to twelve are getting dressed up in ghoulish costumes, awe-inspiring comic book superheroes, and delicate fairly-princesses. What time is it? Halloween.

3 Pictures of Wind Turbines

Wind turbines! I find such fascination in these sources of renewable energy. People complain that they're noisy and ugly, but to me, they're a work of art. Take a look at these three different snapshots of wind turbines:

Desert

This one seems like it's on top of a house!

Club Penguin Recycling Center

I thought this recycling center they have on Club Penguin is pretty neat! If you throw a snowball, it turns into recyclable waste. (This place is located near the mines)

Book Review: Physics: Why Matter Matters! by Dan Green

"You'll meet everyday characters, such as Friction, who slows down your bike, and the superfast Neutrinos, who are out of this world. They are a dashing group, full of pizzazz, and they're all here waiting for you..."*

Sounds like your everyday comic book with your everyday heros and their awe-inspiring characteristics, huh? Guess what: you've just read a passage from a science book...
 EEK!!!
[Suspense... yeah... with the creepy music...]

Recycle Crayons with Crazy Crayons

Image is by Crazy Crayons
Do you suffer by harboring an incessant load of broken, worn out, used, or stubbed crayons?
What are you going to do? Cry? Whine? Oh well, I guess we can only throw them in the trash...

The landfill is so evil, it created a typo!

Are you crazy or something?!?! Unless you want me to STRANGLE YOU, don't throw these potential goods away. Instead, simply recycle them with the company, Crazy Crayons!

This company's instructions are very simple: Fill a box w/ your pooped out crayons, ship it to them, and done. They'll do the rest and melt them into new, fun shaped crayons. You can't really question their expertise considering that they have already recycled 72,000 pounds worth of these otherwise thrown-away writing utensils.

I must say, this is a great alternative for Terracycle, because they aren't accepting them yet.

Club Penguin 'Gloos: Fire Dungeon

The best way to display this igloo that I found (thanks to CP username Lot9) was to see it not in an image, but in a short clip.

The fire is quite dazzling, as it is what makes up the "meat" of the igloo. An igloo such as this one is quite fun, but my browser slowed down the longer I stayed. (It eventually crashed.)

I give this igloo 1.5 stars. I would give it 2, but because it slowed down my browser, I had no choice but to take off half a point. The style is fun and would intimidate your penguin friends, but let's face it- you'd get bored of it really quickly. There's not much room for your penguin to move around other than the walkway, either. If you're not all for this igloo, then I'd advise against putting it together because you'd want to clear it away after 5 minutes or so.

For those of you who want the shadowy keep,
(wether or not you're making the Fire Dungeon above,)
just go to the page with the dragon lair and ice castle.
From there, click on the tiny windows in the dragon lair, and viola!

A Fun Little Ziploc Cartoon

I was browsing the Internet for any interesting "going green" articles, when I stumbled upon a fun little cartoon by Ziploc. A great way to exhibit the curbside recycling process and why plastic bags should be set aside to be sent specific recycling facilities.

Did you notice that near the end when the mother holds the list, the first thing it shows recyclable are Ziploc Bags?

Jumping Gif Animations

A while back, I was using these animations that were monkeying around, such as
and

Some of you were asking as to where I got these animated guys. So, today, I wanted to share exactly how:

1. Go to http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/images/. That shouldn't be too hard.
2. Type in the search bar what you're looking for, and click the box next to animations so that it is animations only.
I used birthday as an example

3.You should get something like this:
Okay... Normally, all of these things would move around, but this is only a picture of the screen.

4. Right click, or ctrl click the image you'd like. Then click copy image location or copy image address.

5.Now, you paste that text into any image adding thingy. (I used blogger's "add image" for example). Then go under, "from a URL".

And...

~Voila!

Bath Tissue! Go Green!

The wiping roll.
That's right. Even though recycling the actual TP is practically impossible, (although if that were possible, we would save a lot of trees. And I mean a LOT!) the packaging and core shouldn't go to waste. The core obviously can be recycled under the paper category, while the plastic outer wrapping can go under plastic. The problem is, only some of the recycling facilities accept it because this stuff will probably jam their systems. No need to worry! You can always send it to Terracycle, shipping paid free.

So NOW there SHOULDN'T be any reason for another core or plastic wrapping to end up in the evil landfill. Oh, and, this is vice versa with paper towel rolls.

Who Knew? by Yahoo!

Yahoo! has a series of video shorts called Who Knew?. They provide small but enjoyable fun facts and things about interesting subjects. I wanted to share a couple of them that I found interesting:

iPhone/ iPod Touch App Review: "The Most Addictive Game"

Here's a fun little game on your phone or Touch to keep you entertained. There's just one rule: move out of the way of the blue blocks and don't hit them or the wall.

During gameplay, you use your finger to move around the red block in the center.
The blue blocks slowly increase in speed as they move around the whole area.
You must avoid those and the wall for as long as you can.

I'd give this 4 stars, because for some weird reason, it really is addictive!

Hello Kitty Yogurtland

It's what you've all been waiting for! (Or at least, I have...) The Hello Kitty Yogurtland cups! The designs are absolutely adorable and they've switched out their spoons too. There's Keroppi, Hello Kitty, Chococat, and My Melody. They're also selling T-Shirts, key chains, and stuffed animals at the register.
It may not be of much interest, but seeing these collaborations has always been a welcome change that I've looked forward to. I have to admit, I seem to be going to Yogurtland more with the cute cups and spoons. It's also fun to collect them, as they won't be there forever. (As a side note, if you are to collect them, put them somewhere safe as people are likely to throw them away accidentally *_*) Tell us what you think down in the comments!

A Nifty Little BPA-Free Container

I like how the container is very "grip-able"

One thing I noticed is how fast a single baby goes through  containers of Plum Organics Super Puffs. (I've seen one go through three of these thingies in just a week!) I must say, they simply love it! What I like the most, though, is that this company (Plum Organics) is very eco-friendly. They boast that their plastic container is BPA free. Look at that. Now I simply love it!

Although it can be recycled, (they boasted that, too) I was kinda in a "reusable" mood. So I washed it, removed the plastic, and ended up with a nifty little BPA free container to hold whatever I want (such as snacks, coins, etc). If you wanted, you could use glitter, markers, and stickers to decorate it as your own personal container. Cool, huh?

iPhone/ iPod Touch App: Sushi Cat Glitch

This is a bit old, and may have been fixed with a new update, but the Iphone App, Sushi Cat, has a strange glitch. The purpose of the game is to drop the cat, as it slides down, you hope it gets the most amount of sushi possible. When I was on one of the levels, I dropped the sushi cat down and one of the moving obstacle bars, which squished it to the wall. Upon doing this, the sushi cat was skewered onto the bar and started flinging itself around the screen. This is the first glitch I had ever come across on an Application for the Iphone. Have you ever seen any strange glitches? Share your stories down in the comments! ^-^
