The End of March

Today is the last day of March, 2013. Spring is starting to ease in a bit more; it now requires less effort for me to wake up one hour earlier. Going to bed an hour early, on the other hand, still needs more time.

Interesting fact: The name of the month "March" comes from the Roman god of war, Mars. War season took place during the spring during the Roman Empire.

Poem: "The Dirt Frog"

An ancient pond. A frog jumps in. Plop! (86/365)

The Dirt Frog is always there
Restless, itching
Waiting for a blunder

So when a mistake is made,
Like the shine of a blade,
The Dirt Frog explodes

The Dirt Frog croaks
And is croaked

The Dirt Frog is
Everywhere
Omniscient,
Ubiquitous,
Prying
Trying
Crying

The Dirt Frog is
Unsuccessful
Alone

Yet
The Dirt Frog is now...
Flying

Minecraft Shark (No Mods)

For a pirate-themed parkour course on creative, I attempted to build a shark. The result: a flying clump of grey wool that appeared to be more closely related to a blimp. Perhaps it's not the best Minecraft shark, but it's satisfying as a prototype.

Poem: "The Field"

As I hurry through this field late March,
To a meeting I go
I think for a moment,
And reflect, "Oh."

For it seems as though
It was a hundred years ago
When this field was blazed
And this  town was razed

In reality, however,
It was only a mere year
When this field was attacked
And into corners
Everyone was packed

They played games here
And chased their dogs here
And told stories here
And laughed
And still do

Therefore, it does not seem real
Out of the blue
A dream, a mirage
A lie
A moment
Trapped in history

Yet it happened here
This very field
This previous year
As I walk to
My meeting

Minecraft Medieval Barn and Carrot Farm

I liked the trees and the small wheat farm in the background of this picture.

The Pumpkin Man protects carrots from those ravenous rabbits.

Minecraft 1.5: Redstone Revolution

Quartz blocks, redstone blocks, daylight sensors, trapped chests, weighted pressure plates... no wonder version 1.5 for Minecraft is known as the "Redstone Update." A few pictures follow; each has something from the new update.

The best part of the update is the addition of hoppers: special blocks that collect items dropped into them. This allows for complete automation of many contraptions that previously required one to collect the items in their inventory. For example, the drops of mob grinders, egg machines, and piston-melon farms can go directly to a chest! Chest full? Increase the storage by creating a chain of hoppers and chests all the way down to bedrock.

The Redstone Update should be renamed to the Industrial Revolution! Or, "Redstone Revolution!"

A nice coastal shot. Now all we need is wind and seagulls in Minecraft.

Poem: "Wake Up, Cap'n"

Avast!
Ahoy, Cap'n
Ye be sleepin' late

Wake up!
Yar be missing
The big
Battle

Wake up!
All hands on deck
An enemy's been spotted
Why, it's our old rival!

Wake up, Cap'n!
The cannons be blowing
The yelling be growing
The waves be glowing

Wake up, Cap'n!
We've been hit!
She's been sunken
We're going down!

They'll plunder our loot
We'll pout and they'll root
Where's Cap'n?

Wake up, Cap'n
Wake up.

Happy Pi Day!

The sun still hasn't gone down yet as I write this post. Perhaps it's the result of a combination between Daylight Savings Time (+1 hour) and the fact that the Earth's axis is leaning towards the sun. Whatever the reason, the light difference makes it feel more like spring. Furthermore, the leaves on trees in the community are growing back with my favorite color: green!

Anyways, today is Pi Day (3/14) and it deserves to be recognized. Many people enjoy a slice or two of pie, but if you'd like to save a few calories, you can simply "eat" this picture in your mind:

Also, Albert Einstein's birthday coincides. "Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new." So let's make many mistakes and learn many things! 3.141592653... I wonder if Einstein likes pie.
